DO I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SAIL TO JOIN THE Rolex MBA's Conference & Regatta 2016?
If you are competing in Division A (reserved for the official Business Schools' crews), yes Otherwise (Division B), absolutely not! In case no one in the crew is able to sail, SDA Bocconi Sailing Club will provide you with a professional skipper. Of course minimum participation is required, but you'll enjoy trimming the sails, jabbing and tacking!!
HOW CAN WE REACH SANTA MARGHERITA?
Santa Margherita Ligure is 165 km away from Milan. If you arrive from out of Italy, you can fly to Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate or Genova Crisoforo Colombo airports. The best way to reach Santa Margherita from Milan is by car. Average time to reach the spot: 2hrs. Relevant information will be provided in the 'Information booklet', that will be provided before the event

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
All the participants will receive this information in a detailed ‘Information booklet’ prior to the event
CAN I BRING GUESTS (Wife, husband, fiancee) ?
WHICH KIND OF BOATS WILL WE BE RACING ON ?
Division A - First 36.7 or Sun Fast 37. Boat allocation will be based on random riffle. Spinnaker will be used
Division B - Various boats ranging from 38" to 50". No spinnaker, calculated times
HOW MANY REGATTAS WILL WE RACE EVERY DAY?
Division A and B have different start and will be timed separately. The number of regattas will vary based on wind condition. In an optimal situation 2 regattas on Friday and 2 regattas on Saturday.
Sunday free sailing time to watch final match race.
HOW CAN I ACCESS TO THE FINAL MATCH RACE?
Match race is reserved to Division A boats. The top 2 qualified with 'First Class' and the top 2 with 'Sun Fast' will have access to semi final. The winners of the semifinals will race for ROLEX MBA's Conference & Regatta victory.
WHICH BOATS WILL BE USED FOR FINAL MATCH RACE?
Final match race regattas will be on J 80 (26 foot performance one-design racer)
CAN WE (DIVISION A BOAT) BRING OUR GENNAKER?
Yes, Division A crews are allowed to bring their own gennaker
WHERE WILL WE SLEEP?
Boats are provided with comfortable cabins therefore we will sleep on boat
ARE BED LINENS PROVIDED?
Yes. If you are the 'I'm always cold' kind of person, consider bringing a sleeping bag
WHAT ABOUT EXTRA EXPENSES?
Friday, Saturday and Sunday lunches will not be provided as we will be eating on board (sandwiches, cold cuts and similar). Each crew will have to arrange for this. In any case, SDA Bocconi Sailing Club will provide you with a tentative check list for provisions. Average expense per day is estimated around 12€.
WHERE CAN WE BUY PROVISIONS?
The dock area is plenty of supermarket and shops, where you can buy all you need to survive for the 4 days of the event (don't forget to buy tons of focaccia ligure!!)
IN CASE I COME BY MY OWN CAR, WHERE CAN I PARK?
There are several parking lots close to the port. Logistic information will be provided to all participants in the 'Information booklet'
IS THERE A DEPOSIT TO PAY FOR THE BOATS?
Yes. The refundable deposit is 300€ per person. You can pay (by cash or check) on Thursday 27nd in Santa Margherita, when checking in the boat. After checking out the boat on Sunday, in case no damages are found, the deposit will be returned
